The Ideal-selling Fork Mount Carrier
The Thule 517 Peloton Fork Mount Rooftop Bicycle Carrier is the world's number-1 selling fork mount, and it just got a make over. From road bikes, to disc brakes and fat tires, the Peloton is up to the challenge. The Peloton fork-mount rooftop bike carrier fits all disc and suspension combinations with regular 9mm axles. This bike carrier has a dual-lock style that locks both the bike to the carrier, and the carrier to your rooftop rack. The wheel tray fits tires up to two.6 inches wide with high-profile rims, and carries bicycles with wheelbases up to 48 inches. This process fits both Thule and Yakima load bars, and is Thule One-Crucial method compatible so you can conveniently keep it locked and secure with no a bunch of added keys. Please note, locks are not included.
Installation and Use
The Peloton comes practically totally assembled, requiring only the included hex wrench and your personal two hands to readily assemble in little time. Installation starts with the combined Peloton head assembly / wheel tray which supply the base for securing a bike's forks (head assembly) and a stable mounting platform for you back tire (wheel tray). Following some hassle-free preassembly to these elements, users have just to attach the head section and wheel tray to their rack's load bar with the hex wrench and included knobs as effectively as the included mounting plates and other hardware that permits for square or rounded cross bars. The Peloton is now ready for your bike.
To load your bike remove the front wheel and stow it in your car. Next, open the head assembly cover/clamp exposing the pressure dial. Loosening and/or tightening this dial creates initial space along the skewer operating by way of the head assembly that your front fork's dropouts connect to. Now, spot your bike's fork dropouts onto the skewer ends evenly on both sides. Adjust the pressure dial to assure a firm, but not overly tight hold on your dropouts, then close the cover/clamp partially. Right clamping pressure occurs automatically when half way down the cover/clamp's arc you feel resistance. If you feel this, every little thing should be aligned properly and you can totally close the cover/clamp. If not, repeat for the ideal results. At this point Peloton owners who have opted for a A single-Crucial lock, sold separately and installed into the leading of the head assembly, can lock their bike to the carrier and the carrier to the rack simultaneously. A ratcheting wheel strap is offered to secure the rear wheel to the wheel tray and consists of an adapter for use with road bike wheels. To remove your bike merely remove the wheel strap you installed, unlock the lock on the head assembly (if installed), lift the cover/clamp and remove your bike.

Customer Reviews
First off-- bikes go on and off in a snap. The very first time I used this rack, it probably took me less than a minute. One of the really nice features is the design of the quick-release skewer. The cam mechanism is built into the front of the tray. This has two advantages:
- The long lever means you can also have a lot of travel in the clamp. The skewer goes from being clamped down to being wide enough to remove the fork, even with "lawyer nipples," just by moving the lever. That means no fiddling with the bolt tension every time you want to put the bike on the rack--just drop it in and clamp it.
- The same lock core that locks the bike to the carrier, locks the carrier to the loadbar. Turn one key and the whole assembly is secured.
The rest of the Peloton gives a similar impression of attentive design. The strap that holds the rear wheel down is easy to attach and easy to release. I would say the only downside is the somewhat 1990s-Volvo aesthetics.
I bought two of these last year, to carry our bikes to our favorite adventure spots. The setup was straight-forward and easy, and you can tell these are well made carriers, very durable and very secure on top of your vehicle.
Securing the bike is a breeze, you only have to make minor adjustments to the front clamp for the particular size of forks on your bike, this is a allen-wrench adjustment, the wrench is included with the carrier and only takes a few turns to get properly adjusted. It was easy for me to do, and in conjunction with the rear rubber ratcheting wheel strap you can rest assured that your bike will not be going anywhere.
Overall this is one of the best options out there, really my only complaint is having to remove the front wheel on the bike to attach this, but as many people know, doing it this way makes the bike more secure.
Highly recommended!
